The SMART Embedded Computing Centellis 2100 platform is a low-profile two-slot chassis built to the AdvancedTCA® (ATCA) open COTS standard. It provides a smaller form factor platform for the reuse of larger scale ATCA hardware and software elements, providing a significant reduction in development cost and reducing time-to-deployment.
ATCA technology provides a platform for very dense computing and signal processing applications in military and industrial systems. With origins in the telecom industry’s NEBS standards, the in-built ruggedness of ATCA products is enabling adoption in semi-rugged deployments such as shipboard, airborne, and transit-case applications. With an architecture that was designed for high availability from its inception, ATCA systems provide the reliability and performance-assurance needed in applications such as tactical mobile data networks, transit case applications and control systems in military data center environments.
Compared to conventional enterprise-grade rack-mount systems – the architecture found in the data centers of large corporations and Internet service providers – a bladed system such as ATCA offers substantial benefits for military, aerospace or security equipment. These benefits are often branded with the SWaP-C moniker – for Size, Weight, Power and Cost.
Combined with processor blades featuring dual, multicore processors, SMART EC’s ATCA systems can be used in digital signal processing applications such as audio/speech signal processing, sonar and radar signal processing, sensor array processing, spectral estimation, statistical signal processing, digital image processing, signal processing for communications, control of systems, biomedical signal processing, and seismic data processing.
Centellis 2100 system management is integrated into the platform for shelf management and the base switching interface, while the fabric interface is handled by direct cross-connect circuitry. This system management is compatible with SMART EC's ATCA-F140 switch blade, which is used in the larger Centellis 4440 system and AXP640 chassis, so applications can be deployed on the hardware best suited to the environment in which it will be used and scaled according to user needs.
The Centellis 2100 platform includes redundant power entry modules (PEMs) and two fan tray modules. A variety of payload blades, AMCs and accessory products are available for the Centellis 2100 platform depending on application requirements.
